Grading systems by country
Credit systems vary by country. Below is a reference for which grading scheme universities use in each country.
Italian 0–30
Minimum pass: 18/30. Used at most Italian universities.
German 1.0–5.0
1.0 is best, 5.0 is fail. Minimum pass: 4.0. Inverted scale.
Dutch 1–10
Minimum pass: 5.5. Grades above 8 are uncommon; 9–10 are very rare.
French 0–20
Minimum pass: 10. Grades above 16 are exceptional.
Swiss 1–6
Minimum pass: 4.0. Used at Swiss universities (ETH, EPFL, etc.).
Turkish 0–100 + 4.0 GPA
Percentage converts to 4.0-scale letter grades (AA–FF). Min pass: 60/DD.
UK Percentage
First ≥70%, 2:1 ≥60%, 2:2 ≥50%, Third ≥40%. Minimum pass: 40%.
US GPA 0–4.0
Semester-hour credits. 1 US Credit = 2 ECTS. GPA: A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0.
